Our business intelligence research group is dealing with big datasets every day. To support this data processing, our group got a new multi-core server, founded by IFAF-Invest. This Dell PowerEdge R730 server has two Intel Xeon E5-2695 v3 processors with 14 cores each (24 cores / 48 threads in total). It has 512 GB main memory, 14 TB HDD storage (8 * 1,8 TB as RAID5), and 1,6 TB SSD storage (2 * 800 GB as RAID0). Additionally, it has a NVIDA Tesla K80 GPU with 4992 CUDA cores, 24 GB of GDDR5 memory, and up to 8.7 Teraflops single-precision performance. The Tesla K80 GPU is designed for the most demanding computational tasks and will speed up especially deep learning algorithms.
This server will support our business intelligence and analytics research in topics such as fraud detection, optimal real-time bidding, or text mining. Also, our students of the Business Intelligence and Process Management Master Program will be able to use this server for their research projects.
